You can resume insert mode with gi in normal mode. This will automatically move the cursor back to where you made your last edit and drop you into insert mode.
Let’s try it in the editor. Make a change on the first line, then move your cursor somewhere else. To resume inserting text where you were before, hit gi in normal mode.
